Latinos represent a large number of people in the City of Toronto. Our culture, our music, our food, our language, and our style can be seen and heard everywhere.
In Early 2016 we began brainstorming about the idea of creating our own line of caps and t-shirts. In June of that year, our BARRIO caps hit the market and we never looked back. Our t-shirts were next, and the results were the same. Almost 400 units sold in our first two months. We knew we had created something special. A Latin streetwear brand that 'La Gente' was waiting for. Something we can wear with pride. Our merchandise have been worn by some of the most popular Latin people on the planet. They include, Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Big Papi Ortiz, Jonathan Osorio, Maluma, Anuel, Karol G, El Micha, Kapla y Miky, CNCO, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Fito Blanko, Chantel Collado, and much, much more...
In 2017 we held our our first annual Barrio Boat Cruise. We sold approximately 500 tickets in one month. Same in 2018 and 2019. Three consecutive 'sell outs'. It was during that time that we were approached by BARO on trendy King St W in Toronto. It was a match made in heaven.. You can now find us at Loco Fridays and Barrio Saturdays at BARO. As always, arrive early!
In 2019 we held our first Festival.. MAS Latin Festival. The festival was headlined by Justin Quiles and Yan Collazo...over 3000 people. It was a huge success.
Earlier this year we were approached by the Toronto Raptors and Toronto FC to assist with their respective Hispanic Heritage Nights. We sold out the Toronto Raptors Heritage Night, but unfortunately we were unable to fulfill our obligation with TFC due to COVID-19..... BUT, with TFC we are creating a BARRIO supporter group. What an incredible feeling!
In 2019 we started the Barrio Scholarship Fund. In 2020 we selected the first recipient. The entire process was a life-changing experience. It is now our mandate to grow the Fund to assist as many young Latino students as possible.
ALSO, in 2020 we started Barrio Digital Media. This project's mandate is to give new artists the promotion they need to launch their brand. For this project, we've teamed up with Miguel Anthony who has worked with artists all over the world. We can't wait to get this started as we already have a handful of commitments.
WOW.. if you made it this far, tu eres del Barrio LOL... As you can see, what started as a small apparel company quickly turned into Toronto's Latin Brand... a lifestyle brand.
